United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR) Automotive Metals Division hired TRC to provide program management and administrative services to several multi-year R&D collaborations with suppliers and the research community:

  • Project team developed low cost powder metallurgy for particulate reinforced aluminum composite. Non-proprietary findings from this project are published by the US Department of Energy’s Office of Advanced Automotive Technologies.
  • Project team of US and European automotive OEM's and global suppliers hired TRC to facilitate a two-year collaborative evaluation and testing of new finite element modeling software for improved sheet metal forming.

A private industry forum, ranging in size from fifteen to over twenty Fortune 100 companies, hired TRC to provide forum structuring and management services for its on-going, cross-industry, technology intelligence sharing forum. TRC facilitation and management services helped this consortium attain prominence in the field of technology management. AISI and fourteen participating companies co-funded a joint effort along with the US Department of Energy’s Office of Industrial Technologies to develop a standard method to measure and report quantitative steel transformation kinetic and thermal strain data for bar and rod products, with the objective being an approved industry standard. They hired TRC to provide facilitation and program management services for the lifetime of the effort which involved running round-robin tests at multiple international laboratory locations, and convening expert panels to assess the results. A consensus method was drafted by TRC, and submitted to a standards writing organization. TRC also produced a video tutorial about the project, promoting wider dissemination and acceptance of the new test method within steel value chains.

Aluminum Metal Matrix Composite Consortium (ALMMC) hired TRC to convene and manage a group of several government agencies with aerospace, defense and automotive end users, technology developers and material suppliers seeking to promote the development, market acceptance and new applications of advanced discontinuous reinforced metal matrix composites. TRC held industry workshops to facilitate the preparation and publication of a technology roadmap, as well as serves as the contact point for the consortium.

A group of automotive OEMs, machinery & equipment providers, tooling and material suppliers, and academia hired TRC to provide collaboration structuring and management services for the life of the project. Technology area: machining of aluminum.

A private consortium of seventeen Fortune 100 OEMs, machinery & equipment providers, tooling and material suppliers and academia hired TRC to provide collaboration structuring and management services for the life of the project. Technology area: high throughput deep hole drilling.
