Accelerated Technology Innovation (MATI)
AISI and fourteen participating companies co-funded a joint
effort along with the US Department of Energy’s Office of Industrial
Technologies to develop a standard method to measure and report
quantitative steel transformation kinetic and thermal strain data for
bar and rod products, with the objective being an approved industry
standard. They hired TRC to provide
facilitation and program management services for the lifetime of the
effort which involved running round-robin tests at multiple
international laboratory locations, and convening expert panels to assess the
results. A consensus method was
drafted by TRC, and submitted to a standards writing organization. TRC also produced a video
tutorial about the project, promoting wider dissemination and acceptance
of the new test method within steel value chains.
Aluminum Metal Matrix Composite
Consortium (ALMMC) hired TRC to convene and manage a group of
several government agencies with aerospace, defense and automotive end
users, technology developers and material suppliers seeking to promote
the development, market acceptance and new applications of advanced
discontinuous reinforced metal matrix composites. TRC held industry
workshops to facilitate the preparation and publication of a technology
roadmap, as well as serves as the contact point for the consortium.
